MPsych (Clinical) BA(Hons)
Lynsey Wood is a registered Clinical Psychologist providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including managing emotions and adjustment to life stressors and transitions. Lynsey has worked in private practice and government roles over the past 6 years. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental health disorders, including self-harm behaviours, and suicidal thoughts. Lynsey also has expertise with mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, trauma and attachment difficulties.
Lynsey works respectfully with these families to address not only the immediate symptoms and safety of the young person but also the longer-term recovery for the family. She has also worked extensively in running group therapy programs for both young people and adults. Lynsey is a trained facilitator of the Circle of Security program.
Lynsey has a solid foundation in evidence-based practice, in particular Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), together with other approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness based treatment.
Lynsey's practice is based on a philosophy of creating a supportive environment in which the client can feel safe to explore their difficulties. Evidence-based therapy is tailored to suit a person's needs, personality and circumstances with a focus on working collaboratively. Appointments with Lynsey are available at Wangara on Saturdays.
